3 to 5 years of age
If you know someone with a suspected delay or disability, please contact Myriam Cavazos at 972-882-7700. Once a referral is made, an appointment will be set up for the family to come in for a consultation or an evaluation.

Prekindergarten 4 years of age to 21 years of age
Referrals for suspected disability can be made by anyone. If you know someone with a suspected delay or disability, please contact the neighborhood school. Once a referral is made, the campus will follow its Student Problem Solving Team procedures. The Problem Solving Team may refer the student on for a special education evaluation if needed. A Full and Individual Evaluation (FIE) is conducted to determine the child’s disability and an education need for services.

Home School Referrals
Referrals for a suspected disability can be made by anyone. If you know someone with a suspected delay or disability who is home schooled, please contact the neighborhood school.

Private School Student Referrals
Referrals for a suspected disability can be made by anyone for students who attend private schools located within Mesquite ISD boundaries. If the student resides within the MISD boundaries contact the neighborhood school that the child would attend if he/she were to be enrolled in public school to make the referral. If the student resides outside the MISD boundaries contact the Mesquite ISD special education office at 972-882-7700 to make the referral.

If the child attends a private school located within another school district’s boundaries contact that school district to make the referral.
