We are entering the season when inclement weather may cause school closures or delays. Mesquite ISD has a plan in place anytime weather may be a factor. We maintain communication with emergency management personnel and other school districts in the area to ensure we have the most accurate information. In addition, MISD staff members personally drive the roads in all areas of our district to determine whether they are safe for buses and other vehicles. School parking lots are also checked to ensure they are safe for foot traffic and vehicles.  And maintenance personnel monitor our facilities for power outages, flooding, wind damage, etc.

Any decision about a school closure or delay will be announced by 6 a.m. on the day in question. Mesquite ISD uses several methods to alert our families and staff members, including:

  • Calls, texts and emails sent through our emergency notification system
  • KEOM 88.5 FM radio
  • MISD district website
  • Facebook and Twitter
  • Television and radio news outlets
