Board Members

  • Ms. Collier was appointed to the Board in June of 2021 to complete the unexpired term of Archimedes Faulkner, who resigned due to illness. She is the CEO/publisher at Teia Collier Brands, but previously served as an educator at West Mesquite High School and Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools. She also served as a corporate health coach for major insurance companies while becoming a lifestyle blogger and automotive journalist. In 2017, she re-launched the digital media site Dallas Single {Mom} Parents for families nationwide. A North Mesquite High School graduate, she is the mother of three school-aged children: Zenora, Solomon, and Noah.

  • Mr. Rose was elected to the Board in May 2016. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a bachelor of arts degree (criminal justice) in 1991. Mr. Rose has worked as an Arson Investigator with the Mesquite Fire Department since 1985. He is married to Misty, an assistant principal for Mesquite ISD, and they have three children: Reed, Hayden, and Gracie.

  • Mr. Bingham has served on the Board since 1996. A 1975 Mesquite High School graduate, Gary earned his bachelor's of Business of Administration in 1979 from Stephen F. Austin University. He previously owned his own insurance business in Mesquite and now serves in the Pastoral Care Ministry for Saturn Road Church of Christ. He and his wife, Cecelia, have two children, Samantha and Adam, and two grandchildren.

  • Mr. Everett served on the board for an 18-year period, from 1991-2009, and was re-elected in May of 2014. He graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1974 and attended Eastfield College. He is now retired. Mr. Everett and his wife, Ramona, have three children—Matthew, Daniel and Emily—and three grandchildren.

  • Mr. Seward was elected to the board in 1993. A 1968 Mesquite High School graduate, Seward earned his bachelor's of business administration degree in accounting in 1976 from North Texas State University. He is retired from a position as a senior contract administrator with Luminant. In 2008-09, he served as president for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). He and his wife, Marjorie, have two children, Craig and Christy, and three grandchildren.

  • Ms. Hornsby was elected to the Board in May of 2015. A former Mesquite ISD principal, Ms. Hornsby's career in education spanned 38 years. She retired from Mesquite ISD in 2011. A graduate of Mesquite High School, Ms. Hornsby earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and her master’s degree from Texas A&M-Commerce.

  • Mr. Carbó was elected to the Board in 1996 and served continuously until 2014. He was re-elected in November of 2015. He graduated from Colegio San Antonio in Puerto Rico. Mr. Carbó earned his BBA in finance from Dallas Baptist University in 1995 and received his MBA from the University of Dallas in 1999. He is employed in the City of Dallas aviation department as a business operations analyst. He and his wife, Jossie, have two children–Jessica and Kevin, Jr.–and three grandchildren. Jessica and Kevin attended Mesquite ISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated from Mesquite High School. Mr. Carbó’s involvement with MISD began in the ’80s with service as a PTA member.

When is the next board meeting?

Unless otherwise noted, Board meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the MISD Board Room, Professional Development Center, 3819 Towne Crossing, Mesquite, Texas 75150. 

In accordance with state law, the agenda and location are posted 72 hours prior to the meeting, and the agenda is available at the location at the time of the meeting.

The subjects to be discussed or considered or upon which any formal action may be taken are listed on the agenda. Items do not have to be taken in the same order as shown on this meeting notice. Unless removed from the consent agenda, items identified within the consent agenda will be acted on at one time.

Who can attend board meetings?

Pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, meetings of the Board of Trustees are open to the public and take place at the K. David Belt Professional Development Center, 3819 Towne Crossing Blvd. Those wishing to address the Board regarding an item on the agenda may do so during the audience portion of the meeting.

Audience participation is limited to the portion of the meeting designated to receive public comment in accordance with Policy BED (LOCAL) . At all other times, during a Board meeting, the audience shall not enter into discussion or debate on matters being considered by the Board unless requested by the presiding officer. Public comment is limited to items on the agenda posted with notice of the meeting.

School Board Information

  • Audience participation is limited to the portion of the meeting designated to receive public comment in accordance with Policy BED (LOCAL) . At all other times, during a Board meeting, the audience shall not enter into discussion or debate on matters being considered by the Board unless requested by the presiding officer. Public comment is limited to items on the agenda posted with notice of the meeting. View Meeting Agendas .

    Individuals who wish to participate during the portion of the meeting designated for public comment shall sign up with the presiding officer or designee before the meeting begins and shall indicate the agenda item on which they wish to address the Board. Participation in public comment shall be limited to Mesquite ISD students and their parents, district employees, residents of the district, or owners of businesses located within the district.

    Except as permitted by Policy BED (LOCAL) and the Board's procedures on public comment, an individual's comments to the Board shall not exceed three minutes per meeting.

  • Cable Channel Airings

    School Board meetings are aired on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Spectrum Cable Channel 96.
