Mesquite ISD has special services available to eligible infants, children, and young adults identified with a disability. The CHILD FIND system is set up to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals with suspected disabilities (birth through 21) who are in need of special education. Individuals qualify for special education services when they have one or more of the following disabilities according to state and federal guidelines:

  • Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Autism
  • Deaf-blindness
  • Emotional Disability
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Orthopedic Impairment
  • Other Health Impairment
  • Specific Learning Disability
  • Speech or Language Impairment
  • Vision Impairment
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Developmental Delay

Birth to 36 months of Age

The district offers information to help families make contact with Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Programs of Dallas County. You can also contact them directly at 214-328-4309.

3 to 5 years of age

If you know someone with a suspected delay or disability, please contact the Mesquite ISD Special Education Office at 972-882-7700. Once a referral is made, an appointment will be set up for the family to come in for a consultation or an evaluation.

Prekindergarten 4 years of age to 21 years of age

Referrals for suspected disability can be made by anyone. If you know someone with a suspected delay or disability, please contact the principal at the neighborhood school or the child’s teacher. A Full and Individual Evaluation (FIE) is conducted to determine the child's disability and an educational need for services.
