Honoring Excellence at Every Level: February Board Meeting Recap

The February Board Meeting was filled with moments of celebration as the district recognized outstanding educators and staff members whose dedication continues to strengthen campuses across Mesquite ISD.
The evening began with a special recognition honoring Mesquite ISD’s 2026 Campus Teachers of the Year. Educators from across the district were celebrated for their commitment to student success, leadership in the classroom, and the lasting impact they make each day.
Following the special ceremony, the regular meeting resumed with additional staff and student recognitions.
Two outstanding educators were honored as Apple Corps inductees, an award made possible through the partnership between the Mesquite Education Foundation and Clay Cooley of Mesquite. The district proudly recognized Emily Guest-Turner, a 6th and 7th grade math teacher at McDonald Middle School, and Destiney Diaz, a 1st grade teacher at Gray Elementary School.

Hernandez currently serves as the Financial Clerk at Vroonland Vanguard High School, where she is known for her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving others.
Student recognitions followed, highlighting excellence in academics and fine arts as students were celebrated for achievements that reflect both talent and hard work.
