Celebrating 125 Years of Excellence in Mesquite ISD
On Thursday, March 12, Mesquite ISD proudly celebrated 125 years of excellence with a special anniversary event honoring the district’s rich history and vibrant future.
The day began with an invite-only morning ceremony welcoming local and state officials, current and former district leadership, and legacy community members who have helped shape Mesquite ISD over the decades. Guests enjoyed a reception featuring a variety of alumni-owned businesses, including Waffly Delicious, From Goodies Kitchen and Con Leche Cafesito.
The program featured a powerful, student-led showcase that took attendees on a journey through the decades, sharing stories from a student perspective and highlighting key moments in the district’s 125-year history. Additional student performances and contributions included the West Mesquite High School JROTC Color Guard, Horn High School Orchestra Quintet, and student content creators from KEOM and the Audio Visual program. Proclamations to commemorate the occasion were also presented to the district from Senators Royce West and Nathan Johnson.
The event concluded with the unveiling of Mesquite ISD’s immersive museum experience, a thoughtfully curated collection of artifacts and historical pieces gathered over recent months. Many of the items were generously donated or loaned by community members, reflecting the deep pride and shared history within Mesquite ISD. Later that day, the exhibit opened to the public, allowing the broader community to join in the celebration.
