Mesquite ISD has earned a score of 98 out of 100 on the state’s School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, known as School FIRST.

The district’s latest score marks a four-point increase from last year’s rating of 94 and reflects Mesquite ISD’s continued focus on sound financial practices and responsible use of public funds.

School FIRST is the financial accountability system used by the Texas Education Agency to evaluate the financial management of public school districts. The system measures a variety of financial indicators to ensure districts manage resources responsibly while supporting the needs of students and schools.

A score of 98 demonstrates Mesquite ISD’s strong financial position and the work of district leaders and staff to carefully manage taxpayer dollars.

The Texas Education Agency uses the system to hold school districts accountable for the quality of their financial management practices. The rating system reviews financial indicators across areas such as budgeting, fund balance, debt, audits, and overall financial stability.
